I put a better 2020 cent for comparison. I also took one with my phone & my microscope. I think I have a couple more of these I set aside. Different years though

I don't think it has been after-market gold-plated, but that is a possibility. Rather it looks to me like surface toning.

I see a little copper tone mixed in the golden color, I think it looks very cool and not plated.

Could have been heated - take a normal colored zincoln and place it over a flame - they turn different colors. Or could have been a cars "cup holder" coin.

Some copper plated zinc cents have a "brassy" appearance due to zinc contamination in the plating solution.
