Thanks.

I think it might have ever so close to 5 full but (just not quite) TYPE 2 steps from the 1940 reverse. The somewhat scarcer variety.
I wonder if it is the lighting or what that I see some rub on the right of the Monticello bldg but the rims look 65 ish
( no dents! LOL )
I blew up the image to extremely huge!
What is at the lower front tip of his collar, wear or shadow?

I would like to see a pair of daylight images this clear. I think it is worth the trouble to shoot it again.
I think it's just a shadow, only 1 barely distracting ding high on the back of his jaw keeps it from MS66 IMO. There are teenie contact marks under high magnification but they aren't hurting it any.

Maybe Med/strong strike MS65. almost full TY 2 steps

Well, the good news is that this is just 1 of an entire roll of BU coins.....so hopefully that means I have more Type 2's. I'm not certain how to tell. I'll do my best to get a few more pictures up and take some pics of the other coins I have from the roll.

A whole roll! You dirty dawg you!
This is easy, Look at the wavy steps of a nice 1938 Var 1
and the sharp ones on the reverse of the 1940 Var 2

Of course you already have a picture of the reverse of a 1940 here posted.

Good for you!
