My Mom/Aunt inherited this one from my grandfather. I know its not in good shape, but it is fairly old. Not sure what it was worth. They are wondering whether to sell it or not and wanted a ballpark idea of what it was worth. I may buy it as a bit of a memento, but I am thinking its probably not worth much more than $50. I want to be fair to them as well. Thoughts?

to the CCF, BackIntoCoins! Your assessment is correct - ebay sold listings for similar circulated Cleveland notes show sold-for prices in the $60 - $70 range. Hopefully you will be able to retain this family heirloom.

Welcome to CCF.
You're suspicious are correct. Its value lies in its connection with your family, particularly your grandfather. It was printed just after WWII (1945-46) and the condition is less than desirable. Put it in a currency sleeve and label it for future generations.

Value of Fifty Dollar Bill from the Series of 1934B
Series of 1934B fifty dollar bills with a green seal are very common. 1934B $50 bills in circulated condition are only worth face value ($50). Uncirculated 1934B $50 bills have a chance to command a premium.

I would buy it as a momento of family history.

Thanks everyone for the prompt and useful replies. I used to be very active on this forum 10 or more years ago and life happened (kids, kids sports, etc.) and this site is just as awesome as I remembered it. Thanks a bunch. Hoping I can get back into coins in the near future.
