Indeed a die crack and they happen very often in that area. The 4 corners of the Lincoln memorial.

@jamy, the corners of the Lincoln Memorial are common initiation points for die cracks, not unlike how in the picture below, there are cracks in the asphalt due to the corners being stress risers:

A similar phenomenon happens on both corners of the Monticello building on nickels.
