*** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***This coin is encased in uncirculated condition by PCS Stamps & Coins. I don't have the coin in hand yet so these are the best pics I can get. The obverse side of the rim appears to have cracked off?

Could be mechanical damage. Also, are you sure that this coin hasn't circulated at all? Better pics would help, but the bands on the rev look to me as though they have some wear on them.

I am just going by the label. I should have this coin today or tomorrow. I would like to take an edge view of the coin but not sure I want to break it out of the case.

This coin looks very damaged - it appears like the rim was ground off. The slab is not from any reputable TPC grader. cracking it out should not be a problem if it is a damaged coin.

Could just be the foam of the holder you're seeing.

I agree. I was thinking this was the holder and not the coin.

Was the seller selling it as an error coin?

Quote: Was the seller selling it as an error coin? No. Just as shown. When I bid on it, I thought the rim was the holder. It wasn't until later on that I took a good look at it. Also have a Liberty nickel coming with it - same type of holder. (The nickel was more of what I was after. The dime just helped the justify shipping.)

Got it! It must be the holder wigging out.

Thank you for the updated photo. I agree, it is the holder.

Their photos are to try to sell the coin. Mine show the oxidation on the silver as well as marks from wear and possibly from being in a bag.

My guess on the grade is VF.

I'm curious as to who slabbed it and labeled it uncirculated. I see that you said PCS Stamps & Coins. I don't know them and no offense, but it is not uncirculated in my opinion. It appears to have a flat spot between United States, and the second T in states looks like a Greaser, and the reverse appears as if it was struck off centered in that area because the letters are touching the rim. I also see the oxidation as you mentioned. Have a good day otherwise.
