I found this 1918 Wheat cent the other night. I have never seen a penny with two perfect holes under the date. The holes don't pass though the penny. Could this be a minting error. I am not sure how somebody could hand drill these holes, or why they would do so. Still a cool, old coin IMHO.

Thoughts?

I think it is PMD and not a mint error. I moved your thread to the proper section of the forum.

Thanks. I am new to the forum and wasn't sure where to post the topic. My first hunch was PMD but I couldn't figure out how/why it occurred.

this is a damaged coin, but can you post up an image of the reverse? It tells us how bad the damage could be and how it happened.

For sure it is damage. Could be from a small endmill or similar.
