Snagged this War Nickel for cheap on ebay. The photos made me wonder if there was a thick P/P. I figured that it's definitely a decent lamination example— although that is quite common for the 35% silver war nickels—so I rolled the dice.
The first pass doesn't look like a P/P, but I will take some more time with the coin this evening and twist it around under the scope to be sure.
I checked out the mint mark from all angles, nothing special to report. The above pics are a little harsh, the coin actually has a nice golden tone with smoky stains in sunlight. Original seller pic, cropped to the mint mark: I think I got faked out by the depth and intensity of the mint mark vs. the lettering, and also by the shadows around the P. Still happy with the buy, it was a win either way.
