As DOCC says, that is a poor coin that was subjected to a grinding tool and could never have left the mint looking like that. I have found several like that through the last few years coin roll hunting and know minting procedures can't ever make a coin have that appearance... Nice picture though

How could it still weigh right if it was a grinder. Consider that the silver is raised up higher then the copper parts as well

Very nice example of a very abraded coin. What does the reverse look like? Please provide an accurate weight to two decimal places. A close-in, end-on pic of the rim might prove interesting.

Cmwood... If you feel you have a legit rarity from the mint, consider submitting it for assessment and grading by a reputable 3rd party grading service. If you do, please share the outcome with us. Thanks.

Cmwood- Modern Lincoln cents are 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper.
97.5% of 2.5g = 2.4375g of zinc 2.5% of 2.5g = 0.0625g of copper
If 50% of the copper plating is sanded of a coin the total weight would be somewhere around 2.47g (2.4375g + 0.03125g) which is within 0.01g of what your coin weighs.

I agree with above. It's a damaged coin no matter what may have caused it. Seen many of these before.

I agree with the comments. Just a damaged coin. PMD.
