Not sure if anyone is in to the fancy serial numbers of U.S. currency, but a couple years ago I found a 2009 $20 bill with serial number of 55559555. It was in okay shape, not uncirculated but not a washcloth either. Probably xf and definitely the best fancy # I've ever come across. I held on to it forever until finally deciding to just spend it recently.

I figured it's cool but the 9 broke up the radar, repeater, block, one digit etc. and I decided the $20 denomination would probably be unpopular to collectors and worth more for me to just spend.

A couple times since then, I've contemplated whether it was a mistake or not... Any thoughts? Have you ever parted with a coin or note and regretted it? Ever lose a coin?

XF is a nice looking note. Ok shape means it was VF. Spending 55559555 was a mistake. It was worth more than 20 bucks. Have you ever parted with a coin or note and regretted it? Yes. Have you ever lost a coin? Yes.

Water under the bridge,right.
I would have held onto it until I really needed the money. It is not worth a bundle, but more than $20.
I think we all have sellers' remorse at some point over a collectable we have sold.

As the others have mentioned, it's worth more than $20. Not a lot more, just more. Personally, it's not valuable enough for grading, yet, it's a keeper. I wouldn't lose too much sleep worrying about spending it.

I wouldn't have spent a near solid $20 but maybe you'll find another. The closest I've found is a $20 w/ 666666xx serial & that's a keeper for me.

I would have kept it until I needed $20, so do not worry about spending it.

This is a marginal keeper, I'm afraid.
