I am in the process of liquidating my 93 yr. old dads massive coin collection accumulated over the last 60 years as per his wishes to supplement the costs of his assisted living. His SS and Navy pension lacks covering the entire cost but only a small bit. I am not experienced enough to determine reasonable values on the vast amount of coins now at my disposal and will be seeking input of the members on this site. Here is one example of many more to come. With the volume at hand, it seems doubtful I will fulfill the tasks in my life time.

Also, please feel free to offer your opinions as to grade and condition as well as a reasonable value I could expect to receive. I sell on ebay and many are already there that I have offered at what I feel to be fair prices. Thanks for any responses in advance.

Doesn't look authentic to me. The date looks too crude.

Not my area, but when I first seen the photos I thought the same as Zurie. Something seems off. John1

This is not authentic unfortunately. Font is off and the surface is certainly unnatural when compared to similar dimes. Best of luck with the rest of the collection!

Thanks for the input. In comparison to authentic examples, the vertical leg of the 4 is quite questionable. No extention of the 4 toward the rim is not even vaugly discernable. Tossing the specimen. Thanks all.

Not genuine - there is also no doubling on the 4.

Agree this is definitely a counterfeit.

Well that is a shame - just when you need to sell it off ho help someone, it turns out like this.
Please post up some of the other coins you are looking to liquidate here. Maybe you can sell them here on CCF in the buy/sell/trade section and give us a chance to get some of them..

Not sure where to start. I'm posting Peace dollars on ebay right now. I have already dumped $980.00 Fv 40% Kennedy hales, 80 1oz. siver bars, and 3,352 War Nickels @ the LCS. I still have a pile of rounds, eagles and 90%. Full collections of Walkers,Franklin's, Merc. dimes, and many 1938-1961 Jeffersons. 99% complete modern commemoritives, complete Morgan dollar collection, and on and on. OGP mint and proof sets (40',50's, 60's). Rolls of UNC cents. To much to keep going. Tell me what your interests are and I will surely offer it up here first.

Not to mention the innumerable varieties and errors marked on 2x2's that obviously require close scrutiny.

Are you getting a good price at the LCS? John1

Yeah, that was my first thought about the LCS. They seem to want to give you a pittance for War Nickels, compared to what you can sell them for on ebay. People are getting $2/nickel and more in relatively sizable lots. Which is also a bit bonkers to me, but people do love War Nickels (including me!).
