I've been noting the dates of every pound coin I get for about a year now, and today I reached the grand total of 1,000. Here is the result:

2016 352
2016 edge variety 20
2017 443
2018 65
2019 102
2020 17

OTHERS

Fake (2018) 1

GRAND TOTAL 1000

The bimetallic pound coin replaced the nickel-brass circular coin from 2016. The 2016 'edge variety' coins have the alternate milled and plain sectios around the edge in a different position. My way of telling them apart is by checking the section of edge immediately below the word 'ONE' on the reverse. The 'normal' coin has a plain section immediately under 'ONE' while the 'edge variety' coin has a milled section.

According to the mint reports 2021 and 2022 should be out there
(I've not found any either)

Thanks for sharing. Like you and andyg, I have not found any 2021 or 2022 £1 coins. By my rough sums from what I recall of mintages the mix you found is about right. You do handle more £1 coins than I do.

Can you share a picture of the fake 2018 £1 coin?

Nothing really. I suppose I was inspired by some of the Australians on CCF who were trying to noodle a complete set of Australian decimal coins from circulation.
