Hi there. I hunt through coin rolls in Canada. It's common to find American quarters in our rolls, and I throw them in a jar to spend when I visit the States. I know very little about American coins but had heard that they produced a limited number of W mintmark quarters for circulation a few years ago. I rarely ever look at the American quarters, but I happened to flip over this Kansas quarter to find a W. How rare are they to find in circulation? Does it have much value?

In my opinion the "W" West Point minted coins are indeed a great find and I keep all of mine. Though I have only found 2 "W"'s.

There were ten different "W" quarters produced. Five each in 2019 and 5 each in 2020. Two million of each variety were released, which makes them rather scarce. To find one in circulation at this late date is fortunate. I cannot speak as to the current value of them as of this time but initially they were selling for about U.S. $25.00. If you will check on recent "sold" ebay "W" quarters you can get an idea of their current pricing. Nice find. I currently have 83 of them in my collection. Anyone want to swap?

Yes, it's a keeper. Great find in the wild (north), looks to be in good shape, and is worth many times face value on the open market. Check ebay sold prices to get an idea of current valuation.

Hey just wondering if you guys could tell me more about the w mint marks, are the circulation coins or proofs? Are they just the quarters for those years or all coins? Thanks

Thanks The quarters are circulation coins for those years. However... In 2019, West Point minted proof, reverse proof, and uncirculated cents—they were included as a bonus gift with the proof, silver proof, and uncirculated mint sets respectively. In 2020, West Point minted proof and reverse proof nickels—they were included as a bonus gift with the proof and silver proof sets respectively. COVID killed the uncirculated nickel.
