Super-size images make this time for a screen adjustment. A touch too much luster loss for a true MS, it's still a slider that could go low MS or high AU.
My grade would be AU55. A well-preserved example.

Nice looking AU-58. Some strike softness but great eye appeal.

Luster is not strong on this piece but after careful examination I don't see any friction in the fields or wear on the high points. So, I won't argue with PCGS determination that this is a mint state coin. The value would likely justify seeking a CAC approval sticker. I wonder if that was attempted but CAC decided it wasn't solid for the 62 grade.

They are so forgiving of high point wear. Regardless a nice example.

It is a beautiful coin. I think the Coronet Half Eagle is the most beautiful one of that series--on that size the proportions are perfect. The Quarter Eagle seems a little crunched to me (still a nice looking coin), and the Eagle seems to spacious in the fields. The Coronet Half Eagle just nails it for me--such a beautiful design!
