1914-S Lincoln Cent (Woody, Thin Planchet, Greaser)

Alonzowick90 Pillar of the Community United States 654 Posts	Posted 08/02/2024 6:30 pm Hey coinnoisseurs, I just traded a few 80's Lincoln Proofs for this 1914-S looks like a Woody? Weights 2.56gr (So .55 grams short) Is it a Greaser? Reverse looks AU so I'm kinda scratching my head here. What's interesting is that it is not much thinner than a regular 1914. In the pictures I compare it with a 1914 cent, the left one is the 1914-S. I see die cracks all over and just a very odd color. counterfeit? Or a copper mix error? Heavy circulation wear may account for much of the weak lettering/numbers on the obverse. Grease may have been a factor too. May have have been struck on a rolled-thin planchet. I've come across many, many early wheat cents in similar condition. The reverse falls a ways under AU--in my opinion. Not counterfeit. Report this Post to the Staff
