Quote: You must be a participating member with at least 50 posts and have been a member for at least 14 days to post in this forum. This could be why he (or she) may be thinking that. This is under each of the subjects in that area. They could be keying in on the 50 posts itself. Just a thought since they only have 36 posts to date.

Would you rather us have no mechanism at all to try to establish some member credibility before they buy/sell/trade on the forum? Sure its not going to prevent incidents from happening but it is better than just opening up the bst to every tom/dick/and harry.

Quote: i dont understand why you need 50 posts to participate Because using this forum for buy/sell/trade is a privilege. Members who join Only for wanting to sell their collections should take them elsewhere. I'm glad we have a system in place to reward participating membership with a safe way of doing business

If it were up to me, and it isn't. ( good thing a lot of things are not up to me ) I would rather see a 100 quality posts rule instead of 50 for BST forum. Just my opinion.
I have recently have seen a person almost get the 50 posts needed in practically one forum topic alone. That topic has mostly become, pretty much, an argumentative atmosphere and has brought out some unfavorable remarks on both sides of the controversy within. I almost fell for the trap of feeding into the rocky situation by getting more deeply involved, and typing what I had in mind, but asked for some advice from a moderator and saved myself some embarrassment from becoming a part of a problem rather than part of the solution.
There should be very little room here in CCF for mean arguments, name calling, and other nonsense. No room at all for con artists and rip offs. I'm proud to be a member of the best coin collector forum bar none, and hope that we run a tight ship to keep it this way.
Maybe 50 posts to enter contests and PM other members but BST should be at least 100 I think. When it comes to trading here, I think a good amount of trust should be gained by the quality of participation within the regular forum topics first before any money should be transacted.

I agree with wheezydog. I'm only at about 75 posts, and I'm sure that some members might not be comfortable trading with me yet. I wouldn't have a problem with 100 posts.

I don't have a problem with 50 posts as long as they are relevant/quality posts and not just Welcome or other "Smiles".

I guess I see the reason for Trade and Sell, but can not see a reason why you need 50 posts to bye something from someone you send the money they then send the item
Also PMs not sure why you can't contact another member with out 50 posts.
With that said I believe a lot has to do with the time it takes to get to fifty posts you can almost tell if someone is trying to pull a fast 1, or is in the forum because of the interest in the Topics
It was almost 4 months of reading before I ever posted any comment. Then again I am not interested in trading or selling, so was in no hurry to reach the 50 post milestone

Most forums don't allow newbies (or whatever you want to refer to new members as) to buy, sell, trade, request or use any other forum functions until after they get to know the member better. It's a safety measure, and I agree with the 50 post rule. When I first joined I was somewhat disappointed by the 50 post rule because I was under the limit, but it didn't take long to reach that goal.

I like the 50 post minimum, and agree with wheezy it wouldn't hurt to have it higher. I frequented anandtech.com forums many years ago (and whenever I build a new PC) and they have a very active buy/sell forum. I think they use heatware.com as a site where you build up a tally of positive and negative feedback from buying and selling. It works much like the reputation tally on ebay. I never used it myself, but liked the concept of tracking past good or bad reputation when dealing with folks on the forum.

I've seen the idea of feedback pop up here before, but as I recall it was a sour idea, this forum is more for education and friendly conversation rather than a place to buy and sell coins. The BST ( Buy sell trade ) forum section is a privilege and I'm grateful for it. I have not seen a bad transaction on here yet, but I think without being established with some time and posting, I don't think a brand new member would do as well as they could with some time in here anyway. I use the BST forum and check it out several times a day.
I think everytime we type something in here we leave our own feedback by what we write.

I've only had one bad possible deal on the BST. I felt like I was lied to and given the run-a-round. I just don't look at things the person has for sale now.
I agree totally with the minimum 50 posts.
Having a feedback system can be good and bad. Good that it can help determine how a seller/buyer/trader handles themselves, but also bad if it gets into being mean or negative.

Quote: There should be very little room here in CCF for mean arguments, name calling, and other nonsense. I agree wheezy. That is the reason most of those places no longer exist or haven't many members left to speak of. Most of the ones who were there and didn't want to be for those reason are here now. That is the main reason I haven't signed in to most of those in years and have always been here. This is a great family atmosphere and it doesn't need to change into the others. I don't think 50 posts to buy, sell and trade is unreasonable at all. I don't want to get ripped off from the money I work so hard to obtain.
