Hello all,
I'm new here even though I've been reading you for a while...

I know 1909-O are rare but do you think this could be a genuine 1909-o 5$ gold coin?

Answering this question is well beyond my pay grade, but I thought that it might be instructive to post a side by side comparison of the ROI for the OP's coin and the "regular"-strength O mintmark from NGC:

There are two types of 1909 O Five Dollar Golds.
One has a typically weakly struck O mint mark ,as
shown from OP coin .
A scarcer type has a crisp well struck O mint mark .
as depicted in the comparison pic. The well struck
version is much harder to acquire .

mlux81,

Weight and diameter might be helpful as well.

Someone can help .PCGS EUROPE
or NGC UK.
Pretty certain the OP coin is a genuine
Weak O , but it really needs to be sent in.
Then there are no questions as to authenticity!
Good luck !

Looks like the real deal to me. Might as well send it in for certification if you ever have plans on selling it down the road.

Thanks all for help

I've just bought this coin and waiting to receive it, wishing it could be an O mintmark.

I'll sure send it for certification to PCGS

Well worn "D" or "O" ... how to determine?
Size? Location? Compare to PCGS examples?

It still looks like an O mintmark to me!

ANY 1909-O 5$ Indian, weak or strong mintmark, is worth being certified.
