Hello all--I am strongly considered picking up this coin, but it is not mine yet. Do you think it holds its own as a solid coin? How would you grade it?

I don't see any wear. MS-62.

I would choose one that has more even, creamy luster. Since you are a type collector and this would be your only example, I would try to find one with better eye appeal. They are out there.

Can't argue, but so much depends on the price. I'd like to see different pics of the obverse.

In the reverse, I think I see a clashed arrowhead above DO in DOLLARS. Looks like there is some clashing there and elsewhere that doesn't match the obverse devices, so thinking that this was clashed with coin die of another denomination.

More concerning is the enlarged pictures of the obverse show some lines/shapes in the right field. Maybe a small rectangle or scribble. May just be the pictures, but not something anyone likes to see. May also be more clashing.

NGC called this one a 61. It looked pretty cool to me for a 61--I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Thanks, @Numismatic Student for drawing my attention to the obverse fields more. For a silly personal reason I really want an 1855 one over an 1854. Thanks everyone for your opinions and time!

Some closer photos (I have it on approval). What do you think? I like the luster--I like the sharpness of the details. Getting one in a substantially higher grade is probably not in my budget for a three dollar gold coin. The spot on the obverse near her nose is visible, but varies in visibility depending on the angle of the light. I tried to capture it. What is it? Bag marks?
