Hello lovelies! This is my first post, please bear with me.
I have a 1989 D penny that I'm using as my practice post coin. From other posts I've gathered it could possibly be Die Deterioration but more likely gas bubbles. What I didn't see is damage going across the entire coin which is why I also was wondering there could be an error. Lastly, is there zinc rot on it? If so does that send the coin into the spend pile?

Linear trail gas bubbles. A plating issue with no premium. Keep as a reference piece or just spend it.

Interesting example of plating bubbles. Yes, keep it as a reference. Ultimately, if you like it, you keep it. Collect what makes you happy.

While most of it is plating, on the reverse I see a die crack that may run rim to rim. Would need a closer photo of the "A" area in STATES to verify.

Actually, it definitely looks like an RTR die crack running from the rim below the N in cent to the rim above the A in states. Also, not listed on Cuds on Coins.

Linear plating bubbles and a nice example at that - save it for a reference coin.
