I found this 1995 LMC with a huge raised gash all across it. I'm just curious to know:

1) Is this uncommon?
2) What is the technical name for this?

Thanks as always!

I thought it might have been a scratch at first, too. But after looking carefully, it appears to be raised.

Here is a close up of the coin. There is even a tiny raised mark on the edge (although it is a little worn do to circulation). I also tried to run a gentle piece of plastic over it and it, and this line on the coin stops it from going over.

It's a scratch with displaced metal along both sides of the scratch.

Sorry just a scratch. Like running a stick in mud, a build up of material on the sides of the trench.
