I got this 1923-S Liberty coin that has fine detail but quickly notice it was missing the rim, appears to be beveled at a 30 degree (almost like shaved off). The rim thickness is 2.48mm.

Is this normal or would this be classified as a fake? Passed magnet test.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is not enough information provided to make a diagnosis.

Will attach of the obverse here shortly.

I just don't see how this coin can weight exactly as a mint, have same mint diameter but MISSING RIM. Appears shaved off with a beveled angle (not 90degrees from edge).

Now with these additional photos, they lead me to believe that this coin in it's early lifetime was encased (maybe as a watch fob or key chain)

My pocket piece (22P Peace $) started out as a key chain that was gifted to me from my Godmother @ 1969.

Okay thanks, makes sense. I even did a ping test on it and it did in deed had a 4.5khz-6khz ring to it. Just started this hobby a couple months ago and kinda was scared I got ripped off. Got it on ebay along with 3 other dollar coins, Morgans.

Thanks for correcting me, yes Peace dollar.

something that large - it could have been in a western style belt buckle and the frame that held it in place deformed the rim without a loss of metal.
