I have searched a few coin supply outlets on the Internet as well as ebay for this Dansco Jefferson album. Wizard Coin Supply is currently out. Several others charge outrageous shipping charges. Should I just go ahead and buy on ebay or does anyone have any suggestions? The problem with ebay is that I also wanted some storage square tubes as well and I would like to be able to just place one order. I guess what I'm asking is who do you use for coin supplies that doesn't charge an arm & a leg for shipping? Thanks, Mark

I have a Dansco in great shape. Not sure what years is goes up to off hand, It has holes for proof only issues and starts at 1938. Let me know if you are interested before I take this to BST section which is where this post should be maybe?

Wheezydog, I went ahead and ordered the album (without proofs) from Valley Coin which was the place wif99 suggested.
Thanks,
Mark

Wheezydog quote: Now fill er up with GEMS and Full Steppers!**************************************************************** I wish I could! I would love to only put in MS coins if possible. Once I get to the 50 post mecca I might be getting with you about some of those gems that I lack! BTW, it looks like a graded 50 D might be a great investment coin.

The 50 D will probably be around for awhile and it has been surprisingly one of the most stagnant when it comes to value increases. There are many others that will probably surpass it in value in high gem BU grades with good strikes. Not that a nice 50 D isn't a nice coin to have, but get some of the others in high grade that seem to be inexpensive while you can. A great way to get some nice ones is to search for cuts out of mint sets that are still in the cello. A lot of the better strikes of the tougher coins can be cherry picked this way. Keep learning and stretch you dollars. One coin I think that might get a bit away from a lot of people is a nice AU 39 D. Then the 1939 S 1938 S 1938 D 1938 1940 D 1940 S 1941 S all the 1949's and the 1950 philly and all 1951 nickels. and AU War Nickels are set to get a boost in prices. Get these while they are still cheap. But I think a nice coin show or shop might be better than ebay for these pickins. Just my opinion, but these will get expensive if the collecting interest continues like it has.

Thanks for the info Wheezydog. I just copied and pasted it into a Word document. Hopefully I will get to a small show this Saturday. A friend and I already have plans to go to a big show in Knoxville, TN on July 11. Looks like the suggestion to focus on the 39 D & others is what I should do. Thanks for the tip. I probably should consider getting some of these that are graded in addition to raw for my Dansco. I assume you are discouraging ebay buys for these nickels because of the shipping charges involved. Off the subject question: How do I insert the gray quote boxes that many use in their replies. Thanks, Mark

Instead of starting to reply by typing in the box that is already available, click on the link just above it after you have copied the portion you want to quote. New Topic New Poll Reply to Topic Topic Subscription Send Topic to a Friend Printer FriendlyThere you will see the smileys on the left and above are FORMAT buttons. Paste your copied text into the box then Highlight the portion Choose the one that looks like a page of paper. which is used to quote the highlighted text you chose. It will place the html for what you need in front and back to do this. ( If I type that in here it will disappear or leave a blank box, but you can also type it in yourself if you like too. ) Just get in there with the smilies and try different things ( Go to test area or just preview and check this out ) You'll catch on fast. ----------------- Best thing is to study a lot of coins, learn the grading, and compare prices, but always buy a coin you like for the best price you can get it for. ebay just seems to be getting top dollar right now for nickels, my guess is that you might do better in a shop or at a show. Shipping isn't too much of a factor. If you are going to pay $10.00 tops for a coin, it doesn't matter if the coin gets 4 bucks and shipping is 6 or if the coin gets 9 bucks and the shipping is 1 dollar. It still cost 10 bucks right? If shipping is 3 apples a

The next big show that I will be able to go to is July 11 in Knoxville TN. I don't know if I can hold off that long. Once I get started on something, I like to get it done. But there is always the upgrading aspect. Thanks for the quote box info as well. Mark

id say every nickel with a mintage under 10 million is due for a price jump. Since I've been taking all the ones I can find out of circulation.
