@gir, can you please be more specific about what you are seeing that seems odd? Thx. So far, I'm seeing a normally circulated quarter with a heavy cut across George's face.

Hi, I see. Could be a number of thing like some kind of corrosive liquid was on the OBV at one point of time. Probably PMD. If one had the coin in hand it would be better to figure out what happened to the OBV for sure.. This is my best guess to what happened to it from looking at the pix. By the way great pix of OBV and REV .

Post-strike damage. Likely exposed to a corrosive environment which eroded the metal surfaces somewhat.

Can you weigh it? It should weigh light if exposed to some kind of acid exposure.

I may be a newbie at coins but I'm good at pictures! LOL that's just with phone! Ugh I need a camera!!! Lol Wouldn't the corrosion be on the back as well if that were the case? I honestly don't know but thank you all for your input! Cool getting to learn this stuff! Was talking with someone about coins and they had no idea what I was talking about! LOL felt good if that makes any sense!

Coin has spent some time as a parking lot road kill, before being passed back into circulation.

***NEW PICTURES!*** I know to not hold them or to do any adjustments to any photo ever!! Having said that can you see the dots? I did enhance pictures some but only so you could see it. It's so frustrating because the pictures don't show you what I see and feel! So frustrating LOL it's only like that on the obverse and the letters and numbers would be WAAY more eroded than they are. It's not a pitted surface but rather smooth. Almost looks like mixing of the metal gone wrong but I'm always wrong LOL
