I've posted on Reddit but have received no responses, so thought I would post here. I'm a newbie at coin collecting, still deciding what to collect, and have a couple questions. The first one is below. The second will be in separate thread.

I've seen some modern (eg, 2021, 2023) MS-70 Morgan dollars in PCGS and NGC slabs bearing the words "Early Release", "Advance Release", "First Strike", or "First Day Of Issue".

Do these words mean something significant, or are they just marketing? Does the addition of any of these words make a coin more valuable than a slabbed MS-70 Morgan dollar without these words?

Welcome Coins2024,

Today's Slabbed Coins are a Very Serious Topic,

All "Labels " on Slabs are Just Another Gimmick, To Me.

a Slabbed coin is Another ( monetary grab ) for Any Label maker.

All labels below, are Examples of My Point.

First Strike, Early Release, Emergency Strikes, Etc, All Hyped up $$$$$$ Grabs.

The Original Idea Behind Grading Slabs, was to Blindly Accept a Grade of a Coin, Based on a Person's Perception, or a Universal Grading system that Anybody Could trust, did that work out, In My Opinion, NO.

Hello and welcome. To me it has no value. There are a group of collectors that do collect these. I would not pay extra for any of the "novelty" labels or signatures some folks do. I also do not collect modern slabbed material.

That;s Simply Me Too, Others would Disagree, ....

Buy The Coins, Not The Slab .

...I Have Plenty of Coins that Simply were " Slabbed "

But I Wanted the Coins Inside , .....

In essence a "marketing gimmick." For a coin that has been evaluated by a TPG service (third party grading service), it is the grade and evaluation of the coins authenticity that is important.

I view it as just a "gimmick" to draw interest. That's where the old saying: "Buy the coin, not the slab" comes in to play.......

While the "slogans" are marketing gimmicks the Registry Sets do give extra points for first release so there are a few collectors that will pay extra for that label. Like the majority of posters have stated, these are just marketing. The coins are the same with the slogan or without. I wouldn't pay for it.
