Maybe not horrible condition, but well worn. Nice find from circulation at that
One major War Nickel variety for the 1945-P is the doubled die reverse aka DDR mainly seen on the Monticello and five cents much like the famous 1939 DDR nickel.

Hey, silver is silver! All War Nickels are little nuggets of WWII history and deserving of our affection. The doubled die reverse is the big money 1945-P nickel, but there are also a ton of repunched mint marks for that year. The huge P makes many of them easier to see.

I've auctioned a handful of War Nickels on ebay this year, and they went for $1.75-2.25. Which means they average $1 profit after ebay fees and shipping. A pretty good deal for a coin you can find in circulation for 5¢. =)

It's better than the 1945-P Silver Nickel that I have. (I have zero).

only worth $1

You bought it for a dollar? Because it has $1.75 worth of silver in it.
