Cracked plating of a penny can be valuable depending on the degree of plate that is missing. Some errors, such as a split platting error, can be worth between $10 and $20. Die break coins can be worth $100 or more.
I do not disagree with what information you found, wherever it came from but stand by what I said as for worth. Yours has just a small spot that has lost its plating and the condition of the coin is not good. A few bucks at most in my opinion, and worthy of a cardboard 2x2, as many of my finds have found a home.
