So I have been longing to see a Log Cabin one cent coin since they came out. I keep multiple accounts at Wells Fargo and have been asking for a box for months. All their coins come from Albuquerque and Ignacio, Colorado is the last stop on the coin delivery and they say that banks between Albuquerque and Ignacio grab all the Log Cabins and they have no control over it. So another poster on here gets a box and sells them for 4 dollars a roll and I order two of them. I get them yesterday and was so excited.
I work for a Non Profit where money is tight. But the yard around our building looks more like a Dandelion Farm than a lawn. So I convince our Executive Director to let me buy some "Weed and Feed" to put on it so at least it looks good and we might get a few donors if the facility looks a little more kept up. So today I go to work, and start using my Scotts brand dropper. So here I am, walking back and forth, enjoying the sun shine. Something catches my eye. Ah, a ground one cent coin, which I ALWAYS pick up. We have a penny jar so I just pick up all one cent coins. As I reach over to get it, I notice there is a strange imprint on it. YEP, you guessed it, a Log Cabin 2009 One Cent Coin. With the usual damage of a ground one cent coin, but it is my FIRST found 2009 one cent. A multi Billion dollar bank can't get them but I can find them on the ground. It made my day!

I jumped on coppernickeldaddy's deal, too, because like you I live in Colorado, and by the time any 2009 Philly Cents are ever found in circulation in Colorado, they'll probably be nasty-looking and thrashed. Congratulations on your find, and a true 'find' at that! I watched them roll out of the Schuler press at the Denver Mint last January, and I didn't get one in my change until April 6th! I'm still only getting one at a time when I do get one in change (which means there's no solid rolls of them getting to retail businesses).

I have found several in change and 2 in boxes of cents. I did manage to get a whole box of P mints. Trying to trade off half of them for D mints.

Well I guess I was lucky as my bank got them but limited rolls so I went to every branch to get them. Seemed like they were the only bank in the area to get them I went all over and found none anywhere else.
I have a feeling the LP2 will even be harder to get.

WOW! Cool story! I've found a few P mints, both kind of strangely....one was in my truck cup holder! I toss change in there all the time and I was paying for something, it just caught my eye as being very lusterous....CRAP...almost gave to someone at a drive-thru. LOL The other one I found in my pocket at the end of the day, no idea where either came from. The last one was a ground find! I was walking out of a Walgreens and saw a cent on the black, exit matt....BINGO!

Guess I'm just sitting in the dark here, because I do not understand the mad frenzy to get these. Yes, they are slow getting out to the banks, but -- I absolutely refuse to pay 14 cent each for them and I have seen them as high as 22 cent each. Don't understand the logic, justification or reason for paying that much for a coin that will have a mintage over a trillion coins and I'm sure in time I'll be able to pick them up at the bank without premium or shipping.

Coyote....Quote: Guess I'm just sitting in the dark here, because I do not understand the mad frenzy to get these. The "P" Mint Log Cabin Lincoln Cent has the lowest mintage in 50 years ! And the "excitement" is the "historic change" in the Lincoln Cent......the "frenzy" results in MILLIONS of people wanting them and not being able to get them.......let alone both Mints when they are able to get them. And put that with the Mint only minting so many coins this year of all denominations, because the need isn't there. They are drastically cutting mintage numbers which were "supposedly" already set to mint a certain number.......now that "mintage number" is not gonna happen. We'll see how and/or If it will affect the Cent as well. I believe the dime and nickel are ALREADY DONE ! They've already made ALL THEY'RE GOING TO ! So, this could be an exciting and surprising year for " mintage numbers" ......as well as new designs. Those are some reasons why..... So, as it turns out, we " don't" know what the "final mintage numbers of the Lincoln Cent" are going to be at all right now, after all, because of what's going on. When the smoke clears at the end of the year .....or maybe next year, we'll see what we end up with !

I have yet to see one in circulation in TN or at any bank. The only single ones I have gotten(3)are from sellers on ebay that send one as a bonus, etc. with my purchase. I did pay too much for a roll ($6.49) of the Denver mint. Hoping that I can get at least one roll of the P mint if the prices come down some. Mark

Still lookin,
Would you be interested in trading 10 rolls, D's for P's? Mine are in String and Sons bank wrappers? I would make sure each one has a head/tail showing (if possible).

Here on Cape Cod I still haven't seen any either. I keep asking my bank, but they keep telling me that they haven't gotten any in yet. Where are they all going?
