looks like a Cud error but not on the edge of the coin? I'm thinking it would be die break, but not sure. Please be gentle still learning.

Definitely not a Cud. Here's what Cuds look like, for reference. http://cuds-on-coins.com/ Are you able to get better pictures of the area in question?

Is the area you have circled in red raised or incuse (below the surface)? If incuse then most likely damage. If raised then most likely a die chip.

Taco, not damage, it's an additional piece of metal on the coin, that was obviously ( when viewing naked eye) cast there.

Errers and Variety, I will try to get some pictures with my microscope. But having trouble saving them small enough to post here.

Here are more photos with my endoscope.

Also on the last photo, that would be considered " Machine Doubling" correct?

Last pic is MD. Odd place for a die chip though.
Also, coins are not cast, they are minted.

Ya the placement is different. I also have a nickel with what I think is another odd die chip. I will probably post it and ask about it as well.

I have got to add if I say it was cast there, to describe the act of a form of metal being shaped by a die, it is also correct.

I
If that was the part that bothered you, give me a min, your gonna hate me and my "inncorectness" lol

Thank you, for confirming the Machine Doubling, that one always trips me out. I ask because I don't get confirmation of my progress anywhere else. I'm the only person I know who has any clue what I'm talking about. And my clue is only a fraction.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to check out my find, and all their assistance.

Please tell us how a coin die is made. Is it cast?

Thank you Dearborn. DDD was not the way I have heard it said but makes perfect sense! I have only heard it called Machine Doubling, but that never did sit right with me as an answer. But Die Deterioration Doubling sounds like a more correct answer. I appreciate your input.
