Here are some other options

When I do displays in public such as for the Socuts I like to use
Hard Wood Display Case Glass-Lock & Hinged ShowCase
which can be seen on this site.

This is not a recommendation for this dealer (I have never dealt with them) just an example of what is out there.

I use to display coins but have quit. I learned two things:

1. No one is interested in seeing the collections except for the rare collector that happened to visit. Everyone else was BORED TO TEARS when I made them look. They could care less no matter the rarity or value. Unfortunately, we collect for our enjoyment, alone. They are not a Picasso which can be appreciated from across the room.

2. Displaying coins accomplishes one thing, it advertises that there are expensive and spendable coins in this house. Remember, people talk, even family. I found out the hard way when I took a business client to lunch one day. During the course of the conversation he mentioned that he understood I had a fairly extensive coin collection. Well, seeing as he had never been to my home or discussed this with me I found it very disconcerting. It turned out, that he knew my sister and one day she was bragging about it, I do not know why. What I do know is this does nothing but invite crooks.

So, My collect stays safe and sound, most of it in bank boxes, and out of sight. when you want to share a great find and accomplishment, come here. It is appreciated and you are safe.

I agree with Jim1953... Why would anyone want to show coins to everyone?
All that does is tell everybody there's coins in that house, don't go bragging of what you have, or someone else will have them.

I prefer to put my coins in album since they are more easily viewed and enjoyed. But, I do agree with Jim1953 - most people are not going to be that interested in a Lincoln Cent collection for example. For them, it's just a bunch of old pennies.

I have a little better luck with showing off my type collection in a Dansco 7070, but even then, it's typically not much different than looking at family pictures. Unless you collect coins, it is hard to appreciate the work that goes into building a collection.

I find that if someone is actually interested in viewing your collection (meaning in your home) they won't care how it's presented. Like rggoodie, I have a number of those wooden display cases for putting presentations at shows, clubs or the like.
