...that the portrait of JFK on the more recent halves (1995 on I guess) are smaller than the ones from the 70s and 80s? Also, I had a 1995 (can't remember since I deposited it) that had the date with a flatter and wider text compared to older issues.

Also, I see that a lot of 1970s halves have sort of a wider rim than the recent ones...

Just seeing if I'm not going crazy...

Common for the designs on coins to change subtley over time, or even change every single year, such as with cents.

The Red Book mentioned that Kennedy half dollars have had many subtle changes over the years.

You are VERY unlikely to find a year that has two varieties on the obverse after 1982 (That is the last year I can think of it occurring.) because the master hubs are mad up the year before with the date and everything on them. There would have to be a mid year change in the design and new Master Hubs made. Now on the other hand a changeover on the reverse is definitely possible because left over reverse dies from the previous year/type could be used in the following year. A recent example being the 2008W with reverse of 2007 ASE. Not realizing the reverse had been changed some of the leftover 2007 reverses were used in 2008.
