This one looks pretty cool. Whatever is going on here it appears to only be affecting the bottom layer as the letters don't seem distorted. Interested to know more. Thanks
T Great info, I really like the name, Design Devouring Die Wear sounds ominous, like the super villain of coin collecting. But seriously I read the article and was wondering how you can tell the difference in Ridge Ring and the letters just being worn down. I attached the picture I'm referencing from the article.
to the Community When a die starts getting old and fatigue after striking millions of planchet it'll begin to lose some of the original patterns and in cases such as this being struck on a copper plated zinc core the conditions will become more severe, simply it is due to die wear.
