Nifty little DDR on a 1964 proof nickel. The doubling shows best on USA, Five Cents, and the M of Monticello. The hooked notching is visible especially on the letters E and F.

Thanks, guys. =)

To be clear, I bought this one already identified as a DDR. I am currently trying to narrow it down to a specific WDDR entry, but there are over 100 for 1964 proof nickels. WDDR-034 looked promising, but the strongest marker (the gouge under the second T in States) isn't present. I am hoping the distinctive splits at the top of various letters like the A will make identification easier.

I took a pass through the Wexler catalog, and WDDR-034 still seems like the strongest option. The splits are in the right direction and approximately the right scale. Do these markers match?

-makecents- observed that it appears to be CONECA DDR-036, as cataloged on Variety Vista:

http://varietyvista.com/04b%20JN%20...4PDDR036.htm

Discussion thread about what class of doubled die this nickel represents (spoiler alert: class V pivoted hub doubling):

http://goccf.com/t/472811

Some additional images from that thread, showing the doubling at an angle to clearly illuminate the splits and separation lines. A bit of a picture overload. I think I have extracted my three bucks of knowledge out of this coin! Thanks to everyone who helped. =)
