I have no experience in selling precious metals. I am wondering if it is safe to sell to a private party (non-business). If somebody would be kind enough to give their opinion I would appreciate it. Thank you for reading my post.

What forms are your precious metals in? Coins, bullion - ? Can their market value be quickly and easily determined? How will the private party pay? to the CCF!

Welcome to CCF! It's wise to be careful. It would be pretty safe selling at a local coin club, coin show. Some sell on Facebook, Craigslist, but doing that can be risky. Do not invite buyers to your home or tell them where you live. Meet them at a public place to sell, cash only. My local police recommend meeting in police parking lots or in shopping malls, maybe take someone with you. If you are talking about precious metals worth thousands, do it in smaller amounts which may be safer. Or sell to nearest coin dealer. Most coin dealers are honest with fair prices, some are not. For current bullion prices you can look at ebay sold listings. Some online dealers show their buy back prices like JM Bullion. https://www.jmbullion.com/my-accoun...ck-products/

@dama_ag-47 If you know the individual I would say yes. If not, above posts list concerns.

Thanks all for your responces & advice. I do not have a listing in any forums...as per the rules here. As far as selling to a non-business private party for spot... I would do better money-wise,(aa buyer would do well in the offering too).

While selling on ebay can be costly, it is very safe. Craigslist, protect your home, meet in a safe place ... can be a quick turn around for you. Coin shops need to make a profit ... control expectations. Best of Luck !
