It could also be from a broken post on the die, which is a very common occurrence. In either case there is no real numismatic premium attached to it. Some British bronze pennies of George V exhibit uneven metal mixing but it seems relatively rare and there are some collectors willing to pay a small premium. I don't know whether uneven metal mixing is a facet of US quarters but no doubt other CCF members will. Report this Post to the Staff
