Coinfrog, I feel a sense of sarcasm there.

Oh jeez, another squiggly-letters-make-an-object design?

Silliness. Debases the whole idea of commemoration.

Quote: Oh jeez, another squiggly-letters-make-an-object design? Wait a minute. The artist turned Stacey Park Milbern's name into her wheelchair? Metaphorically, that is saying that she and her wheelchair are one and the same. That does not sound like the kind of association a disabled person would want. To further this travesty, I was only able to decipher her name after I enlarged the image by 300%. This coin is going to suffer the same fate as the Jovita Idar quarter. This "inventive" style is completely impractical for a real-life 25-cent piece. Why? Because we can't read it!

I know one thing that my crystal ball tells me about the new women on the quarters. I still will not be able to tell who they are. Also I will not be able to tell what they did for society. I'm sorry I just do not understand recognizing people who I do not know contributed to society. Do not get me wrong, just because I do not recognize them doesn't mean they are not great people. I say the greater majority of people do not know these women. I still think there is a better way of using research on the people whom we place on our coinage. Ok I set the wheels in motion now fire away.

Quote: I say the greater majority of people do not know these women. Seems like a good reason to put them on the quarters then, right? They all should be more widely known than they are, in my opinion.

Putting these women on quarters give them exposure and creates the chance that someone will become curious enough to learn about them.

I'm glad they didn't choose the "half and half" Althea Gibson design!
I like the chosen designs overall but they are still too busy. Hopefully when this is over they go back to the less is more design theory.
