Hi! I found the attached quarter in pocket change and am curious if anyone with expertise can provide insight into the depression on it. Could it be post-mint damage (very likely), or possibly a strike-through error?

A few details to note:
• There's a reverse "R" on the obverse near the rim.
• The metal around the depression on the reverse doesn't appear to have been displaced (no visible pushing up or down on the sides).
• I weighed the coin, and it measures 5.7g.

Any thoughts? Help much appreciated!

@nate, first welcome to CCF. Second, rather than a mint error, that looks like mechanical damage to me.
