Found this 1955 LMC with a Cud on the obverse in last week's Cent rolls from my bank! This coin shows wear on the higher points like most of my coins do because I don't buy coins. The Cud is on Lincoln's forehead and back into the hair line. Nothing else on this coin as I always check for DDO 2! Look at the pics and let me know your thoughts and regards to all.

Retained Interior Die Break perhaps? I'm still learning about these so let's see what others think.

Not a Cud. Possible start of a lam?

Nice cracked skull--die crack(s) plus die chip nubbin. Coin is also showing characteristics of a 'poor man's doubled die'...last 5 in 1955--a Die Deterioration issue. For the record, Cuds are features directly associated with the rim.

Retained Interior Die Break, not a Cud. Nice find.

I stand corrected. When I looked up Cud On Coins it did not relate to rim contact to be a Cud, but a high point of substance on the coin. Unfortunately I forgot lamination which I have noted on several coins in the past! We must always remember proper notation or name! Regards all.

The first line in the explanation.
Quote:
A Cud on a coin is a damaged area resembling a blob at the edge of the coin. Cuds result from a piece of the perimeter of the die breaking away
