Hi folks, so an acquaintance of mine here in the US is on the lookout for 2 pretty difficult to find coins. 1 an 1859 inverted 9 and 2 an 1881 single serif N. He is putting together a collection of varieties in AU58 condition . If anyone can help us out it would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I used to have 2 of the 9/6 and one 1881 single serif. But now I just have a single 9/6. I had both of the Haxby 9/6, #'s 138 & 145, but sold one to a huge collector. I also sold him the 1881 and the 1881 is going to be, by far, the toughest to find. Good luck.

Since the highest graded 81 SSN is a 40, AU-58 might be a stretch.

Was it a 40 '81 that came your way?

This gentlemen I know is quite the colllector so he might be interested in 1881 SSN in whatever grade. He is well know for what they call "low ball" collection of US coins he has on PCGS registry.

An 81 SSN in any problem free grade is a very tough coin.
