Excellent variety and really nice looking coin, jfeed! What's going on with the reverse, down the center? Odd looking, almost looks like a struck though.

Cool RPM! What is up with the reverse though? ... also looks like possible damage to the rim above IBU of pluribus? Or is that something else?

Nice! This is the coin that I search for in 55-S BU rolls, with all the other errors and varieties in the rolls being "gravy". RPM-001 is relatively rare since the two secondary MMs are punched very lightly and were easily worn or abraded away.
I have been looking for an example of this die without the RPM, but have yet to find one. In Variety Vista the latest listed die state is MDS. Was the die retired early? Even at MDS the secondary MMs are still fairly sharp, so I might still call Stage C EMDS. I've only been searching for a later die state example without the secondary MMs for 10 years or so, having not realized there might be a later state available, and possibly overlooking them in the many hundreds of rolls I searched before that...

So, Ray, what are your thoughts on the reverse anomaly?

It looks like a narrow lamination to me.
Edited to add: the defects at the edge near the B show how deep the lamination goes. It was much shallower near the D and M below and peeled away right after striking.

Thanks for all the comments.. You guys have gone way past my knowledge. I tried to get a close up, but it's not easy. There is a lot of discoloration almost like brass verses copper. Lamination might be the reason? You can almost see what looks like a die crack.

Hmm, if there is a difference in color (which does not show in the pics unfortunately) then the lamination may not have peeled off right after striking, but much later, after the coin had a chance to tone a bit. I assume the rough area looks more golden, like fresh bronze, correct?
