It looks to me the Mint Mark may have taken a hit that scraped the metal. looking to the right of the MM there appears to be a line, of what could be built up metal. The MM shows possible scrape marks that have given it a 3D look. Interesting coin.

Interesting. It looks like the punch was at an angle when it struck the die and caused the vertical bar to be punched deeper. And it also caused the vertical bar of the punch to "slide" to the left as it was struck.

Wonder if there are anymore out there that have been discovered?

Neat find! The obverse die looks struck up very well in the same corresponding area and has a thicker rim. This leads me to think that the coin was a slightly tilted during strike, heavy on the obverse and light on the reverse, to create what we are seeing.
