"ABOUT UNCIRCULATED" ... interesting format for a sale - not an auction, but an invitation to make an offer. I see that this is one of 196 3CS currently for sale in the'bay, but I don't suppose that many of them are so nicely holed. Peter in Oz

Does he hope someone makes an offer and then try to sell outside of regular e-bay?

Is it me or does it look like 2 coins? The pic #1 and pic #4 looks to be different coins. The punched hole now has a raised border...

Gotta read the fine print: Quote: ATTENTION INTERESTED BUYERS!!
ALTHOUGH THE PAYPAL PAYMENT OPTION IS LISTED, I DO NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE ACCOUNT. THEREFORE, PAYMENT MUST BE COMPLETED VIA THE LOCAL PICK UP OPTION.
I WILL OFFER THE MOST CONVENIENT (PAYMENT BY MAIL), FASTEST ALTERNATIVE PAYMENT (PC or MO), DELIVERY OPTION (USPS) FOR BUYERS OUTSIDE OF 20 MILES FROM MY LOCATION.
Do you suppose he's hoping some one will meet him at Denny's with a suitcase full of money? I offered him a buck for this fine numismatic masterpiece...

You hit on the important point, snowman - ebay now requires Paypal only for coin listings - for my last sales, I couldn't even offer non-electronic payment methods. That's why I've reported this guy, at least the technical reason. I reported him because he's a moron, but he gave me a reason that ebay will nuke him for.

I see many sellers putting in their listing that they accept checks and money orders beside Paypal. I understand it's Paypal only. I don't like this new policy but, rules are rules.

As I understand it, sellers can now only advertise paypal on ebay, but are free to take payment however they like. I believe that it would be illegal not to accept US cash for a US debt. A relevant bit I posted to another question - Forced paypal is the latest scam. Paypal (really ebay now) forces me to pay in Canadian money for US purchases so that they can charge very high currency conversion fees. They won't accept my American money even though I keep American credit cards for US purchases (that everyone else takes) because I am ordering from Canada. I thought this was what anti-trust laws were for. Perhaps this should be discussed in this forum.

hmm... anti-trust, eh? That could be leveraged since PayPal is forced, but then there are methods to accept things other than PayPal.

So if I drop Paypal, would I be able to accept checks and money orders on ebay?

Quote:Clearly abusing ebay venue by selling what is worth less than $100.00 for many millions of dollars. Sorry but not even close to against the rules. In fact, if ebay tried to tell me what I'm allowed to ask for my items, I would be fuming mad. The mailed payment option is the only angle.

I just read the description and it looks like he described it very well actually. I would never do a BIN on something like this for spite. It's a binding contract and you can bet your bippy that for a $300,000 in fees you'd end up in court. ebay encouraged these types of listings by letting people list price unlimited BINs for about $4 a year. It was indeed silly idea.
