I am considering placing a bid on this one. It is described as a "spiked chin". I don't think it is. It is a normal crosslet 4, stems. The spiked chin appears to be damage to me. Condition looks XF details to me. What are you opinions and would you consider bidding on this one? Current bid is at about Greysheet AG.

It's definitely a spiked chin variety, looks like a late die state of Cohen-8 with the nice Cud. I'd say VF-20, possibly details from the light damage on the rim and wreath. Also, hard to tell the originality of the surfaces from these pics, but it looks okay.

Nice EF-40 straight grade. I like the color on this one.

@ICE, you're probably right, VF-20 may be too conservative. I'll move up to VF-30/35.

Well I pulled the trigger on this one and now I own it. It went a bit higher than I expected yet I feel I still did OK. I will add some photos here after it's in hand. After submitting this one for your opinions I did a little comparison shopping based on your consensus. Here are a couple of examples I found on ebay. A PCGS XF40 and a PCGS XF45. Both appear to have more wear than the the one in question. However the spike is more well defined. I would like to know your thoughts on this. The XF40 has the same Retained Cud across LIBERTY.

VF Details. It does look like a spiked chin that's not strong and/or does not show up well in these images.
P.S. It is XF Details.

With the new pics, I'd say VF-30, possibly details from the light scratches, although the scratches probably aren't as noticeable in hand. Is the color accurate, or is that from the lighting?

The color is darker. I'll try to get a shot that is closer to true color.

This image is closer to actual color. Is it possible for a Moderator to add " Spiked Chin to the title?

Is there anyone that can help with a Cohen designation on this?

As I said before, it's a C-8, late die state.

I recognize those images that are of Gold Standard Guy. He purchases coins in details holders and resells them as problem free. If that is the case, the story of this coin likely follows the same timeline.
Regardless, the obverse scratches would detail the coin anyway.
