I recently purchased one of the new Lighthouse Vista Coin albums to store some of my Canada Large Cents. I usually store my raw coins in 2x2 cardboard holders but I thought I would try out this album to see what it was like.
Some observations.
- there are 3 pages in this album with room for 20 coins on each page.
- the last page has a number of unmarked spots for duplicates or varieties.
- each row of coins has removable plastic inserts that protects both the reverse and obverse sides of the coin (See last two photos). This allows for unimpeded examination and photographing of any coin in the album.
- the back of the album lists mintages of each year for easy reference.
- the album cover and inside pages are made of sturdy cardboard.

A couple detractors to this style of album.
- the plastic inserts will scratch rather easily. They are also a bit narrow in my opinion as sometimes you have to wiggle the insert to cover the coin completely.
- Removing and inserting the plastic inserts sometimes leaves cardboard fibres on the surface of the coins which can be annoying.

Overall, I am happy with the design. What does everyone think?

I gave them a try a number of years ago and went back to using 2x2's for my raw coins. I had albums for denominations 1 cent through 50 cents.

My observations:

First off, nice collection you have going there Canada97.

As you said, the slides scratch easily and after a while, the scratches become quite distracting. In my opinion the covers are not professional in their appearance, as opposed to the old Dansco albums (though Dansco has the same easily-scratched slides). I do like the iconic Canadian scenes on the covers though.

Although it's not the case for the large cent album, the holes for 25 cents were too big and the coins rotated in their holes every time the album was handled.

On the plus side, they are convenient.

I bought one for a grandchild a few years ago for dollar coins. It seemed to fit the purpose but we have now run out of pages.

I think some companies offer blank page refills for this style of book. It might be worth checking out.

I use those same albums and I like them well enough even though all of those observations are true. I did buy some extra pages (and had to move a couple of page 1s to the end of the previous album.) I need to pick up some clear label tape with white lettering though.

They are also slightly too tall for Dansco slip covers, which I was hoping to use as a little environmental protection.
