So I think I have an idea of the answer... But still. Why are some Dansco albums so hard to find, or not produced any longer? Or produced it seems in random spurts?

For example, I'd like to possibly start up a Washington quarter collection, which Dansco has an album for from 1932-1998, both with proofs and without.

However, they appear to have stopped producing this particular album. I found several recently after hunting around... For ridiculous prices. My local coin dealer has one USED for 50 dollars. And I found one online for like 80 dollars new. Ridiculous.

This doesn't seem to be the case with just this album, but other albums by Dansco as well. What gives?

Essentially, it's niche marketplace dynamics, including the reality that Dansco--a small, vulnerable company--relocated not long ago, and was 'run over' by the Covid economy. The Dansco topic has received a good deal of attention within the forum. Suggest searching the forum for more complete info.
