Just received my grades on four coins I submitted to NGC. Overall reaction is neutral. Really disappointed in one and as expected on the other three. Turnaround said 10 days but took 16 business days upon receipt at their facility. I had actually submitted these at the FUN show. Thought I would share you get your thoughts before I reveal the assigned grades. Here is the Seated Liberty dime  Edited by Buffalo78

This is the most original looking of the four pieces you submitted. I guess G6. A nice example of a well circulated Seated dime. |

So here is where the group gets off (just a bit on this one).....I had this at VG-8 myself and it landed right there. I am more familiar/focused on this series. I have looked at a lot of slabbed SLD and there are quite a bit of variation relative to "standardized" grading for the series based on the strike of each year/MM. In fact, I passed a few years ago on a 70-s slabbed at VG-8 as the seller wanted a Fine cost (and would not budge) and the reserve to me looked G-4 at best. The more I looked at these the more I began to understand what was in the market place and what these coins looked like in circulated grades. Even coins at the VF level for 70-s show a good bit of weakness on the reverse. As someone noted, this is an all original coin and I think that was recognized just a bit with the grade. I would not have been shocked at a G-6 but VG-8 is justifiable based on what is out there. I paid VG (or a hair above) for this from a very reputable dealer in Seated Liberty coins. Then again, half the time you can throw out prices guides for any of the tough dates in a any of the seated liberty series because there just are not a lot out there. Overall most pleased with the result on this one.  |

Wow! They went low on your key date dime and high on this one. This is an example of market grading giving it a bump up imo. Congrats!

Nobody is right or wrong .
When you send stuff in for grading
you are completely at their mercy .
Only an opinion.
ALWAYS buy the coin not the number .
NGC lately is all over the road map!
