If the coin is worth about $20 without the off center, do you think it is worth an extra $405?

My personal opinion who collects early mint errors, the off center is not significant and the coin is in not great condition. Maybe worth $100 in my eyes to the right person. Nevertheless, any degree of off centering is very uncommon on FEC.

I agree the coin in VF condition might produce the price tag quoted. I might pay 50 to $75 for this coin if I wanted it.

It's a nice error coin, but it's too much money. You made the right decision by passing on it.

I'm late to this but, fwiw, that seems like a fair price. Flying eagle errors are pretty rare. A similar coin sold for $488 at Heritage in 2010.

any off center on a FEC is highly collectible. I think this would get about 200 in auction - not higher because I think it would get a details grade due to the greenish areas of possible corrosion or whatever it is.
