There is so much going on with this Nickel I'm not sure what to call it. Is it a Dbl die is it even an error? I honestly have no idea so any help is appreciated.

Die Deterioration Doubling and maybe some Machine Doubling mixed in too. It's not a Doubled Die.

I'm with E&V.
It is a Very Late Die State coin (VLDS). The die state is evident by the die flow lines going from the center to the rim and are usually heavier nearer to the rim.

Definitely looks like MD on the last "O" of MONTICELLO.
Die Deterioration PLURIBUS.

Yes, excellent example of Die Deterioration issues. Suggest keeping it for comparison purposes..

Also FYI, a Doubled Die is not an error,
it is a variety ,big difference.

I agree with DDD. The Die that struck this coin was at a VLDS and way past it's retirement

Serious photo overload - we don't need that many images to scroll through.

Show us an in-focus image of both sides of the entire coin - then one or two detail images to show the areas of interest.

We still would have arrived at DDD.

As others have said, DDD. That melted butter look is classic Die Deterioration Doubling, I see it all the time on 1980s nickels.

It looks like the die cavities that strike the letters were also beginning to warp. You can see that the main letter bodies are withered and twisted.

As collectors, we are often critical of how hard the Mint ran those dies in certain decades. Realistically, you can't see the difference when the coin is sitting in your hand, even if it looks like that under magnification.

Good job spotting the abnormality. Your picture quality is also good.
