Hello again I was in process of making the files smaller for this forum and someone locked me out of other but as it is the rules so be it. I have a 1943p warnickle that seems to have a faint S before the P in the same area I've saw the S on the coins mint mark location from San Francisco. My question is is this a know error and if so what's something like that valued at, is it rare, and is it sought after. Thank you all for y'all's time.   |

Sorry about the topic lockout - but it is customary to have your images ready to post when you start a new topic. that way we can start commenting on your coin instead of posting "we need images" and such. Anyway, for your coin, thanks you for starting a ne topic to showcase your nickel. But I'm not seeing any OMM here (OMM = Over Mint Mark) of a P/S. |

Ok. I wasn't saying over mint mark. I apologize if that is the way it came off. When I compared to other warnickles the S was always a little more to the left of where the P would be. And when I done some research only thing I could find was that it (S) would be faint and to the left of the P. And that's with AI helping me, In the picture which it is very difficult to show it has the makings of the bottom part of the S and fades more as it goes upwards. Regardless if it is there or not have you all ever seen one of such or even heard anything about that being the case. Thanks

I do see what you are saying but picture for me anyway is to fuzzy, if I had to make a best guess it would just hit marks distorting metal.

to the CCF What you are 'seeing' is a result of PareidoliaYour brain is trying to make sense of some random disturbance on the coin surface. In reality there is no S mint mark there. Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art |

Just a well-worn 1943-P with some damage near the mintmark. Still worth about $1.80 in silver, though.

Alas, the AI was unhelpful. There is no such thing as a P/S War Nickel. |
