I'm curious to know if there's anyone who is willing to spend more than 5 seconds on a coin I have to tell if it's legitimate or not. It's copper from the weight and looks to be a small date due to several indicators but having trouble posting pics. Anyone can tell me how to get the pictures to post and that will actually look at the pictures for me?

The two has the curve at the bottom for sure, the date is even across bottom the eight doesn't go below the 2 and it weighs 3.14 grams can you not see the curvature on the 2? I've had so many people tell me large date but the large dates 2 does not look like that. It's dorectly a straight line no curve unlike this one.

I don't mean any disrespect but how can you say it's a large date when it obviously has a curve in the 2? The large dates 2 doesn't curve it has a straight angle at the bottom. This one does not. It curves down identical to the small dates. I'm looking at the small date side by side with it and they're identical. But one weighs 2.5ish the other 3.4ish. My opinion is it's authentic.

The small date. The two is obviously the same as the small date. The hump in the 2 says it all. Sorry if the image quality isn't good enough for you to see it but it definitely looks and is identical to the small dates 2. Look closely at the bottom left hand corner of the two and you can see the hump. The large date doesn't have a hump. I know it's a small date myself I was just wondering how many people would actually refute it. I'll let everyone know when it's authenticated.

I'm thinking large date. Check/compare the 2's distance from the rim. A small date 2 is further from the rim, large date is a tad closer.

Before you "authenticate", take it into your local coin shop & get their opinion before you waste your money. It'll be an expensive lesson if you don't.

Yes, there are other differences between small date and large date. Please open and read the descriptions as well as review the images and compare to your coin: http://goccf.com/t/257942You have the coin in hand... we're basing our comments on your image. Best of luck if you decide to submit.

Large Date - would happily eat my words if it comes back from a TPG as a Small

@Robertwood, There are plenty of experts on this site all telling you the same thing, that your coin is a large date. Looking at the comparison images provided by IGWT79, even Ray Charles could tell the difference. If you are going to insist that your coin is a small date you are going to be disappointed and learn a costly lesson should you submit it to a TPG.

It's a normal Large Date cent. It's a spender. You already got your answer. It's time to move on.
