This is my first post here and I need some help from this forum to identify this kind of error. I am just a beginner in the coin collecting world and this is what I observed thus far...

1. Obverse has like a second inner rim, causing loss of the usual outer features.

2. Reverse is missing only the Lincoln Memorial and partial of the motto. It's just blank.

3. Edging appears to be mostly smooth with spaced-out reeding all around. It also feels somewhat rough along the edges.

4. Weight feels a little on the lighter side. Unfortunately, I don't have a scale to get an accurate number.

5. Thickness from a side view appears thicker than normal, upon comparison.

6. Diameter appears slightly smaller than normal, upon comparison.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Thick rims and smaller diameter indicates it is a Dryer Coin.
As it is considered damage, there is no value above 1 cent.

When in a dryer the coin is constantly hit on the rim causing the rim to be pushed inward.

Yes, showing characteristics consistent with a Dryer Coin. Nice example.

@jnj, first welcome to CCF. Second, while I don't have anything to add to the comments above, I did want to point out that for a first-time poster, you pictures and description of what you are seeing with the coin in hand are way above average. Well done.
