Sellers pics, in an ICG holder. Was thinking about making an offer. Do you think this would straight grade at PCGS/ NGC? I'll post up the ICG grade tomorrow evening.

Thx, Adam

I'd say VG-10 straight grade. Some verdigris and crud that might look better with conservation.

I'll say VG as well. I think it'll straight grade.

It's got contamination on the surface. It would not straight grade w/o conservation and then it's a maybe. It does need to come out of the that holder.

If the other 1875-CC you posted makes VG-8 this one has to be F-12 at least. I guess the obverse might have some surface contamination but otherwise the coin looks problem-free. If you buy it perhaps you could send it to PCGS for their conservation service. Or, you could crack it out, treat with acetone, and keep it raw or submit to PCGS and see how they like it.

Here's the grade. I'm going to pass on this one. I'm concerned about the surface contaminants. Sellers asking for just under F12 money. If I could get it for VG8 money I might take a chance and crack it out.

Good move to avoid it. When you see hardened contamination like this on the reverse you have a problem. There may be a thin film of whatever it is across the obverse and these bits and pieces on the reverse are bad news. Should not be in a straight graded holder.
